Thoughts on music and Ed's new album TIMED.
Ed is not trying to establish a brand; he's trying to have a conversation. Not trying to fit into a political arena or any other arena as far as that goes.
As an artist, Ed is trying to communicate the way he would talk with anyone. Ed covers a wide variety of subjects on his new album "TIMED" with hope and honesty, and if you want to get close enough, there’s plenty of depth.
The song, She's Gone, is about emotional distress and heartache, yet not knowing where to go as their relationship has disintegrated. Whereas The Circle is a discussion of who are we to love, and who is my neighbor which, allowed its gravity, is a touchy subject these days. That's Enough ponders the difficulty of traveling through life with someone important, realizing that it's not going to be a smooth trip. There will be problems, but what's important is we've got each other and that's enough.
These along with the rest of the songs on the album called TIMED are the conversations that we don't talk about. It's not the type of thing that we post on Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, or other social media. It could be a conversation at a coffee shop, at a dining room table, at a campfire, at a bar, or almost anywhere that you would meet with friends and people and have discussions. Discussions about things that have been TIMED and if we don't have our eyes open, we'll miss them.
Years ago, the two things that freed Ed up in writing were these; 1. One can write about anything and there's a universe of stories and, 2. What he writes doesn’t have to be autobiographical.
