The
Urban Hillbilly Quartet
The A List
Review.
http://www.urbanhillbillyquartet.com/ is the place to find them on the web. Click on their “Gig” link if you want to know where to catch them live. For fans of UHQ the A List is a great collection of their songs and for others this is a wonderful introduction to the Urban Hillbilly Quartet a fun time no matter how you slice it.
According to their web site, “Their music has been influenced by: Midwest powerhouses The Jayhawks and Uncle Tupelo; Georgia's Vigilantes of Love; Canada's Bruce Cockburn; and folk/jazz star David Grisman. UHQ has been compared to R.E.M., The Grateful Dead, and 16 Horsepower.” And what a great mix it is. Plus it’s fluid as the band flows from one styling to another that is, this is not a band where all the songs sound alike. Acoustic and electric bass, acoustic n’ electric guitars, fiddle’s n violins, things you squeeze n things you don’t and more.
The A List is available from Paste Music as well as at select independent stores around the Midwest, USA. The A List is a collection of 15 of their favorite songs and instrumentals from 1995-2001. It comes complete with nice letterpressed packaging and includes a comic book.

I recently put together (for my own listening enjoyment) a MP3 CD-R of some of my favorite artist. When I listen to it I normally program the player to select songs randomly for play, and it’s always nice when the UHQ songs come on.
Final word? Nope, no last words here, I’m waiting for more and more and more of UHQ.
