The band has been around since March of 2000.  If you happen to see the July Issue of Christianity Today on page 50 you can see a picture of the a bunch of people listening to Celestial Static (CS) at Cornerstone Festival 2002.  I’ve camped in the same area as CS at Cornerstone for the last 3 years, so I’ve been hearing CS continue to get better each year.  They play at what has come to be known as one of the “generator” stages.
(i.e. they bring their amps, drums, and PA and a generator to power the equipment.)  Live they play a nice combination of originals and covers.

The band consists of Julie Elzerman: Lead Vocals & Guitar; Erin Lee: Vocals and Drums;  and Jim Elzerman: Bass Guitar.  They’re from Aurora, IL  Their music is raw combining clean and distorted guitar with a solid sound.  They make good use of Erin’s harmony vocals which also emphases their “female” vibe.

I sometimes like to rename songs.  The main reason I do this is so I can remember the song.  I’ve renamed the1st song “Complicated”  The 2nd song I’ve renamed “So Far Away” musical this song reminds me of the band The Choir but without all the delayed layered guitar parts.  CS shows a good melodic sense driving yet thoughtful.  3rd song original title was fine.  Nice use of hand claps on the bridge through the following chorus.  4th song had a electronic effect that reminded me of something I heard in the Wilco song “War On War”, it’s a kind of auto-wah but with teeth.  When I heard them play live this sound was mixed more up front.  This is a nice “introduction” to CS’s instrumental side.  I feel like it’s more like they’re introducing themselves to instrumentals then they are introducing themselves to us.

The last song has a U2 “Sunday Bloody Sunday” vibe but without all the delay on the guitar.  The vocal melody line helps to dismiss the comparison and it’s totally gone when the chorus kicks in.  I think I’d rename this song “Breathing In”

Here’s the real names of the songs:
